The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000665 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel and a wide range of other materials. Ground to a 135-degree split point with web thinning, it starts on contact without a center punch and reduces thrust during entry. The bit measures 12.00 mm (0.4724 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 5.9375 inches and a flute length of 3.9688 inches. An oxide and straw finish provides baseline lubricity and heat resistance. Two regular spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, maintenance technicians, and fabricators use this bit for production and repair drilling in metal.
The 6000665 is built for drilling steel and is rated across primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S, covering carbon steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw drill chucks on benchtop drill presses, magnetic-base drills, and handheld power drills. The Series 2ACO designation places it in a heavy-duty cobalt jobber line conforming to DIN 338 and ANSI standards. Maximum drilling depth reaches 3.9764 inches, consistent with jobber-length geometry at an 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length replacement drill bit for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks on drill presses, magnetic drills, and handheld power tools accepting a 12.00 mm straight cylindrical shank.
Secure the shank fully in a calibrated drill chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before starting the spindle. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece with clamps or a vise — never hand-hold metal stock during drilling. Use cutting fluid or coolant when drilling steel at sustained depths to manage heat buildup and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use; a dull or damaged bit increases the risk of workpiece damage and operator injury.
