The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000592 is a cobalt high-speed steel jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel and other demanding workpiece materials. It features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for reduced thrust and faster starts without a center punch. The 9.60 mm (0.3780 inch) diameter straight shank seats directly into standard drill chucks. An oxide and straw finish provides baseline lubricity and heat resistance during continuous drilling operations. This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working with steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials.
This jobber drill is intended for general-purpose drilling applications in production and maintenance environments. It is well matched to drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools where a straight-shank bit is appropriate. The 9xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications across material groups P, M, K, N, and S as defined by ISO workpiece classification. No coolant-through capability is built in, so external cutting fluid or air blast is recommended when drilling steel at sustained feeds.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or addition for jobber-length drill bit sets in the 0.3500 to 0.4000 inch (9.00 to 10.00 mm) diameter range. Compatible with any drill press, machining center, or hand tool accepting a 9.60 mm straight cylindrical shank. Classified for use in workpiece material groups P, M, K, N, and S.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with metal cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in a keyed or keyless chuck and confirm concentricity before beginning the cut. Power down the machine and lock out energy sources before changing bits or clearing chip buildup. External cutting fluid is recommended when drilling ferrous materials to extend tool life and manage heat; do not run dry at sustained feeds in steel without lubrication.
