The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000496 is a taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling across a wide range of materials in industrial and trade applications. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a right-hand spiral flute for clean, efficient chip evacuation. The bit measures 0.0591 inches (1.50mm) in diameter with a flute length of 1-49/64 inches and an overall length of 2-3/4 inches. A web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces entry force and improves hole accuracy. Licensed tradespeople and machine operators use this bit for production drilling in metalworking shops and fabrication environments.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in both light and heavy trade applications. Its taper length body provides greater reach than standard jobber-length bits, making it useful for deeper hole applications where a jobber bit falls short. The 6000496 is rated for use in alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, stainless steel, and cermet. It is a straight shank bit compatible with standard drill chucks.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit for use with standard straight-shank drill chucks in benchtop drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld power tools capable of accepting a 0.0591-inch shank diameter. Conforms to DIN 340 specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with drill press and rotary tool operation. Secure the workpiece before drilling and confirm the chuck is properly tightened before powering the spindle. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow shop safety protocols when drilling metal or composite materials. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate and speed for the target material to avoid bit deflection or breakage.
