The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000376 is a taper length, straight-shank drill bit engineered for general-purpose metal drilling in professional trade and industrial environments. Ground from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, this bit measures 49/64 inch (0.7656 inches) in diameter with a 6-inch spiral flute length and an overall length of 9-7/8 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle provides a balanced entry geometry suited to a wide range of common workpiece materials. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust load and improves chip evacuation during extended drilling runs. Right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute pattern, it is built to ANSI standards and sold individually.
This drill bit is suited for use in metalworking, maintenance, and fabrication environments where a longer flute length is needed to reach deeper holes or clear chips more effectively than a jobber-length bit. The 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it a practical choice when drilling through thicker stock or when working in applications that demand a cleaner bore. Compatible material applications include alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, hardened steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, nickel, nickel alloy, magnesium, magnesium alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastic materials.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style taper length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks. Suitable for use in drill presses, magnetic drills, and hand drills accepting a 0.7656-inch straight shank. Verified material compatibility includes alloy steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, hardened steel, magnesium, nickel alloys, stainless steel, and reinforced plastics.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, or fabricators using standard straight-shank drill chucks. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before operation to prevent bit walking or premature wear. Always ensure the workpiece is properly clamped and the drilling machine is set to an appropriate speed for the material and bit diameter. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow applicable shop safety and OSHA guidelines when operating drilling equipment.
