The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000353 is a reduced shank cobalt drill bit designed for demanding metal drilling applications. It features a 13/16-inch (0.8125-inch) cutting diameter with a reduced 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to chuck into standard 1/2-inch capacity drill chucks despite the larger cutting diameter. The 118-degree split point promotes fast penetration and accurate starting without a center punch. Built from cobalt steel, the bit resists heat buildup at higher cutting speeds and maintains edge integrity longer than standard high-speed steel. It is a right-hand cut tool with a bright, uncoated finish and a regular spiral flute geometry.
This bit is suited for production drilling and maintenance work in ferrous metals, including carbon steel, alloy steel, and cast iron, as well as secondary materials such as aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, and synthetic composites. The 3-inch flute length and 6-inch overall length make it appropriate for through-hole and moderate-depth drilling on drill presses, magnetic drills, and heavy-duty hand drills in industrial, mechanical, and fabrication settings. It is part of the Series R56CO line and conforms to ANSI standards.
Designed for use in any 1/2-inch capacity drill chuck. Suitable for drilling ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, and synthetic materials as noted in manufacturer specifications.
Install the bit securely in a 1/2-inch chuck and verify it is fully seated before operation. When drilling ferrous or hard alloy materials, use an appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant to extend tool life and improve hole quality, even though the bit does not have an internal coolant channel. Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped before drilling. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, particularly after extended runs in hard materials.
