The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000341 is a taper length straight-shank drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, it features a 0.4040-inch diameter, a 118-degree standard point angle, and a 7-inch overall length (OAL). The spiral flute geometry and web-thinned, tapered web configuration promote efficient chip evacuation and reduced entry resistance. Right-hand cutting direction and a 4-3/8-inch flute length provide deep-reach capability beyond standard jobber-length bits. This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople who need reach in confined or deep-hole applications.
The 6000341 fits general-purpose production and maintenance drilling scenarios where a longer flute-to-diameter ratio is required. With a 6xD flute length-to-diameter ratio, it handles deeper holes than jobber bits without stepping up to a full extra-length drill. Compatible material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel. It ships as a single unit and meets ANSI standards.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style taper length drill bit in the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R55, compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks on drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machines where a 0.4040-inch (Letter Y) diameter is required.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or trained technician following standard safe drilling practices. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the drill chuck is fully tightened before operation. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and improve hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed.
