The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000321 is a taper length, high speed steel drill bit designed for general purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It features a 41/64 inch (0.6406 inch) diameter, a 118-degree standard point angle, and a bright/uncoated finish. The overall length is 9 inches with a 5-1/8 inch spiral flute length, giving it extended reach beyond a standard jobber bit while maintaining rigidity. The web-thinned, tapered web construction reduces thrust at the cutting tip. This bit is part of the Series R51 line and cuts in a right-hand direction with a straight shank of the same 0.6406 inch diameter.
This drill bit is suited for use in machine shop, maintenance, and fabrication environments where deeper hole depths are required without switching to a longer extended-length bit. The taper length configuration provides more reach than a jobber-length bit while keeping deflection manageable. It is compatible with standard drill presses, milling machines, and hand-held power drills with appropriate chuck capacity. Machinists, toolroom techs, and maintenance mechanics are the primary installers and users of this type of bit.
Compatible with drilling into alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel. Fits any drill press or power drill chuck rated for 41/64 inch straight shank bits.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or mechanics familiar with cutting tool safety. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before powering the machine. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling ferrous metals or stainless steel to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or damage before each use and replace if chipping or dulling is observed.
