The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000283 is a taper length, high speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It carries a 0.1100-inch (7/64 inch, Wire Size 35) diameter with a standard 118-degree split point and a right-hand spiral flute. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating is unnecessary or undesirable. The straight shank and tapered web configuration make it compatible with standard three-jaw drill chucks. Web thinning reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation on through-hole drilling. This bit is built to ANSI standards and is suited for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working in production or field environments.
The 6000283 is suited for drilling into alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, hardened steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, magnesium, magnesium alloy, nickel, nickel alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastic materials. Its taper length body, longer than a jobber bit, provides added reach for deeper holes or setups requiring extended clearance. The Series R52 designation identifies it within PRECISION TWIST DRILL's general-purpose line for standard production and maintenance drilling tasks.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks in bench-top, floor-standing, and handheld drilling equipment. No coolant-through capability; intended for conventional dry or externally lubricated drilling setups.
Install in a standard three-jaw chuck and verify secure seating before operation. Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent movement during drilling. Apply cutting fluid or lubricant appropriate to the workpiece material to extend bit life, particularly when drilling stainless steel or hardened steel. Replace or resharpen when thrust increases noticeably or hole quality degrades — drilling with a dull bit accelerates wear and can damage both the bit and the workpiece.
