The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000257 is a taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in a wide range of metallic and non-metallic materials. Sized at 0.0292 inches in diameter (wire size 69), it is manufactured from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish. The bit features a 118-degree standard point angle, a spiral flute configuration, and a straight shank with no threading. Overall length is 2 inches with a flute length of 0.75 inches, giving a 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio. Web thinning and a tapered web configuration improve chip evacuation and reduce thrust in demanding applications. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision fabricators are the primary installers of this type of bit.
This bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in both manual and machine operations. Its material compatibility spans alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools where a small-diameter, taper-length bit is required. The right-hand cut and standard point make it a straightforward drop-in for general shop and production drilling tasks.
Designed as an ANSI-compliant Series R52 taper length drill bit suitable for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collets sized for 0.0292-inch shank diameters across general-purpose machining equipment.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians. Secure the straight shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Disengage and de-energize all machine power before changing or setting tooling. Avoid excessive feed pressure on small-diameter bits, as they are susceptible to breakage if lateral or axial loads exceed the bit's rated capacity.
