The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000255 is a taper length, high speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It carries a 63/64 inch (0.9844 inch) diameter with a straight shank of matching diameter. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce thrust and improve centering on entry. A bright/uncoated finish keeps the surface consistent and allows the tech to monitor wear over time. The right-hand spiral flute with a 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio clears chips efficiently during through-hole and deep-hole operations. This bit is suited for machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians working at a drill press, mill, or with a heavy-duty hand drill.
The 6000255 is built to ANSI standards under PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R51. The 6-3/8 inch flute length and 11 inch overall length make it appropriate for applications requiring deeper reach than a jobber-length bit provides without stepping up to a full extra-length drill. It drills effectively in alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, hardened steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, nickel, nickel alloy, magnesium, magnesium alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastic materials.
Compatible with materials including alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel. Fits any standard drill chuck or collet sized for a 63/64 inch straight shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with drill press, milling machine, or heavy-duty portable drill operation. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm the chuck or collet is tightened to the shank without runout. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing bits. Follow applicable shop safety standards and manufacturer guidance for spindle speed and feed rate based on the workpiece material.
