The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000243 is a taper length, high speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. Measuring 55/64 inch (0.8594 inches) in diameter with a 10-inch overall length and a 6-1/8-inch flute length, this bit delivers extended reach where standard-length bits fall short. The 118-degree standard point angle and right-hand spiral flute geometry make it a reliable tool for production and maintenance drilling applications. The bright, uncoated finish suits shops that prefer an uncoated HSS bit for easy visual inspection of wear. Web thinning reduces thrust load at the cutting tip, improving chip clearance and reducing heat buildup.
This bit is suited for use in metalworking, fabrication, and general maintenance environments where a longer flute-to-diameter ratio is required. The Series R51 straight shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters, making it practical for use in drill presses, CNC drilling machines, and hand-held magnetic drills. Compatible materials include alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
The 6000243 is compatible with drilling in alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel. The straight shank is compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.8594-inch shank diameter.
This bit is installed by machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians using drill presses, magnetic base drills, or CNC drilling equipment. Ensure the chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is securely clamped before beginning any drilling operation. Power down and lock out the machine before changing or inspecting the bit. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the material being drilled to extend tool life and maintain hole quality.
