The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000240 is a taper length drill bit designed for heavy-duty material removal in professional machining and fabrication applications. It measures 0.8281 inches (53/64 inch) in diameter with a 10-inch overall length and a 6-1/8-inch spiral flute length. Constructed from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, it features a standard 118-degree drill point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust. The straight shank and right-hand cut geometry make it compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC setups. This bit is sold individually and is rated for general purpose drilling performance.
This taper length bit is suited for shops and tradespeople who need extra reach beyond what a jobber-length bit provides, without moving to a full aircraft-length drill. The extended flute length supports deeper holes in plate stock, structural steel, and fabricated assemblies. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers where consistent hole quality in a wide range of metals and materials is required. The Series R51 designation places it within a general purpose HSS product line.
Rated for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with drilling equipment and safe machine operation. Always power down and lock out the machine before securing the bit in the chuck or collet. Verify that the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened to the machine manufacturer's specification before starting the cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the material being drilled to extend tool life and maintain hole quality.
