The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000237 is a taper length, straight-shank drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It measures 51/64 inch (0.7969 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 10 inches and a flute length of 6-1/8 inches. Constructed from high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it features a standard 118-degree point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration for improved chip evacuation and reduced feed force. The right-hand spiral flute geometry suits production and maintenance drilling in metal fabrication, machine shops, and industrial service environments.
This bit is suited for drilling into a broad spectrum of materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, hardened steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, magnesium, magnesium alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, nickel, nickel alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastics. It is appropriate for both shop and field use where a longer reach than a jobber-length bit is required without the full extension of a mechanics-length drill. The Series R51 designation places it within a cataloged family of general-purpose taper length HSS drills conforming to ANSI standards.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.7969-inch straight shank. Suitable for use in drill presses, magnetic base drills, and hand-held drilling equipment where chuck capacity supports this diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists, maintenance technicians, or trade professionals familiar with metal drilling practices. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm the chuck is properly tightened on the straight shank before operation. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety protocols. Coolant through is not supported on this bit; use external cutting fluid when drilling harder materials to extend tool life.
