The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000214 is an extra length, high-speed steel (HSS) drill bit designed for through-hole and deep-bore drilling in metal, plastic, and composite materials. At 12 inches overall length with a 9-inch spiral flute, this bit reaches depths that standard-length jobber drills cannot. The 118-degree standard point with web thinning reduces thrust and improves centering on entry. The bright, uncoated finish is suited for general-purpose applications where coolant is not used. Installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators, this bit handles both production and field work across a wide range of workpiece materials.
This extra length drill bit is built for applications requiring extended reach into deep bores or through thick stock. The 12xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it a reliable choice for drilling aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, titanium, stainless steel, malleable iron, and reinforced plastic materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks without adapters, making it compatible with most drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills. Series 1290 indicates Precision Twist Drill general-purpose extra length classification.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic composites, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include hardened steel, high-strength bronze, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel alloy, reinforced plastics, stainless steel, and steel. Fits any drill press, CNC machine, or power drill with a chuck that accepts a 0.5937-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a drill chuck before operation and verify the chuck key is removed prior to powering the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for ferrous and hardened workpiece materials to extend tool life, even though the bit does not have internal coolant-through capability. Wear ANSI-rated eye protection and secure the workpiece with a vise or clamp — never hand-hold material when drilling with a press. Inspect the cutting edges and web for wear or chipping before each use; a dull or damaged bit increases heat and breakage risk.
