The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000209 is a taper length high speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It carries a wire gauge size of #55, equivalent to 0.0520 inches in diameter, with a standard 118-degree split point and a bright, uncoated finish. The straight shank and right-hand spiral flute design suit it for use in conventional drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling equipment. At 3 inches overall length with a 1.75-inch flute, it provides additional reach compared to a jobber-length bit while keeping the setup rigid enough for accurate hole placement.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in metal fabrication, machine shops, HVAC component manufacturing, plumbing fixture shops, and general industrial environments. The taper length body gives the operator extra reach in deep-hole or obstructed-access applications where a jobber bit falls short. The Series R52 designation identifies it as a standard general-purpose line from PRECISION TWIST DRILL, appropriate for light to moderate production runs on ferrous and non-ferrous base materials.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks conforming to ANSI specifications. Rated for use in alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Install in a clean, properly sized drill chuck and tighten securely before operation. Power down or de-energize the drilling equipment completely before changing bits. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use — a dull bit on small-diameter work can deflect or break without warning.
