The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000208 is a high-speed steel extra length drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications that exceed the reach of standard-length bits. It features a 0.5312-inch diameter, a 118-degree standard point angle, and a 12-inch overall length with a 9-inch spiral flute. The bit is uncoated (bright finish) and runs in a right-hand cutting direction. A web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust at the cutting tip and improves chip evacuation. This bit is installed by machinists, tool-and-die workers, maintenance mechanics, and general metalworking trades.
The 6000208 is suited for production and maintenance drilling in materials including aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic composites, and titanium as primary workpiece materials. Secondary material compatibility includes stainless steel, hardened steel, high-strength bronze, nickel alloys, malleable iron, magnesium alloys, and reinforced plastics. The 12-inch overall length and 9-inch flute length make it well suited for through-hole drilling in deep cross-sections, thick structural members, or stacked material assemblies where standard jobber-length bits cannot reach. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without a collet adapter.
Designed as a general-purpose extra length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and drill presses that accept a straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic composites, and titanium; secondary materials include stainless steel, hardened steel, high-strength bronze, nickel alloys, malleable iron, magnesium alloys, and reinforced plastics.
Install in a drill press, milling machine, or hand drill with a chuck capacity of at least 0.5313 inches. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is securely tightened before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement and bit deflection, which is especially important at this extended length.
