The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000192 is a reduced shank drill bit designed for drilling through ferrous metals and a range of secondary materials including aluminum, copper, nickel, titanium, and magnesium. The bit measures 49/64 inch (0.7656 inch decimal) in drill diameter with a 1/2 inch Weldon shank that features three flats for positive drive and reduced slippage in the chuck. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3 inch flute length. The 118-degree standard point angle suits general-purpose drilling in production and maintenance applications. The bright uncoated high speed steel construction provides adequate hardness for ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces without the added cost of coated tooling.
This bit is suited for production drilling, maintenance repair, and fabrication work where a full-size drill diameter is needed but the machine spindle accepts only a 1/2 inch shank. The Weldon flat shank makes it compatible with set-screw style end mill holders and Weldon-type drill chucks common on knee mills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. The Series R57 designation places this in a standardized line of general-purpose reduced shank drills. Right-hand cut spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling in ferrous and light non-ferrous stock.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill for use in 1/2 inch Weldon-style toolholders and set-screw drill chucks on drill presses, knee mills, and machining centers. Conforms to ANSI standards.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the Weldon shank fully into the toolholder so that the set screw seats squarely on one of the three flats before tightening. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and drill diameter before operation. Do not exceed the 3 inch maximum drilling depth indicated by the flute length without retracting to clear chips.
