The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000187 is a taper length drill bit engineered for general-purpose metal drilling in trade and industrial applications. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this bit measures 0.2055 inches in diameter (Wire Size 5) and carries a standard 118-degree point angle with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration. At 6 inches overall length with a 3.625-inch spiral flute, the extra reach over a jobber-length bit makes it well suited for drilling in confined spaces or where greater depth is required. Right-hand cut with a straight shank, it is a direct fit for standard drill chucks and compatible spindles.
This bit is designed for general-purpose drilling across a broad range of materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, magnesium, magnesium alloy, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, graphite, cermet, and hardened steel. It fits typical shop, maintenance, and field service work where a reliable taper length drill is needed. The Series R52 designation places it within PRECISION TWIST DRILL's standard production line, conforming to ANSI standards.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length replacement or stock drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.2055 inch straight shank. Conforms to ANSI standards for interchangeability.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, or trades professionals using a drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle with an appropriate chuck capacity. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before starting the machine. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the material being drilled to extend bit life and improve hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or damage before each use and replace the bit if the point is chipped or the flutes are damaged.
