The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000180 is a reduced shank twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, titanium, and a range of other materials. It features a 43/64 inch (0.6719 inch decimal) cutting diameter with a 1/2 inch Weldon shank, allowing it to seat securely in standard 1/2 inch chucks and milling-style holders. The 118-degree standard point angle suits everyday production and maintenance drilling. The bright, uncoated high speed steel construction offers reliable performance across a broad set of workpiece materials without the overhead of coated tooling. This bit is part of the Series R57 line and is intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople.
This drill bit is suited to both shop and field applications where a full-shank bit will not fit the available toolholder. The reduced 1/2 inch Weldon shank with three flats provides positive drive and resists slippage under load. With a 3 inch flute length and 6 inch overall length, it handles moderate drilling depth in structural steel, plate, pipe, non-ferrous metals, and synthetic materials. Right-hand spiral flutes with a regular helix clear chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations.
Designed for use in 1/2 inch Weldon-style toolholders and end mill holders with set screws aligned to the three flats. Suitable for drilling ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, cermet, and synthetic materials in general-purpose applications.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a compatible 1/2 inch Weldon toolholder; confirm set screw alignment to the shank flats before seating the bit under load. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material where required, even though this bit is rated for dry cutting. Inspect the cutting edges and point for wear or chipping before each use.
