The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000136 is a taper length, straight-shank drill bit engineered for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. It carries a wire gauge designation of number 38, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.1015 inches. The bit is manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) and features a standard 118-degree split point with web thinning applied to reduce thrust and improve centering on entry. The spiral flute geometry runs at a 6xD ratio, delivering efficient chip evacuation during extended drilling passes. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coolant is not used and coating buildup is a concern.
This Series R52 taper length drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in metalworking, fabrication, and light industrial environments. The extended taper length body, measuring 4.625 inches overall with a 2.5-inch flute, allows access to deeper hole locations compared to jobber-length equivalents. It is designed for use in drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machining centers that accept straight-shank tooling at 0.1015 inches shank diameter. Right-hand cut geometry is standard for conventional spindle rotation.
Designed for use in straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.1015-inch shank diameter. Compatible material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
This drill bit is installed and serviced by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck or collet before operation, and verify concentricity to minimize runout at small diameters. Power down and de-energize the spindle completely before changing tooling. Do not exceed the rated speed range for the workpiece material, and apply cutting fluid where appropriate for the material being drilled.
