The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000129 is a high-speed steel extra length drill bit designed for drilling operations that require extended reach beyond what a jobber-length bit can provide. The bit measures 0.1562 inches in diameter with an 8-inch overall length and a 6-inch spiral flute length, giving it a 12xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited for deep-hole work. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce entry thrust and improve chip evacuation. Cutting direction is right hand, and the bright uncoated finish is appropriate for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of workpiece materials. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals are the typical users.
This bit is rated for use in aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic materials, and titanium as primary workpiece materials. Secondary workpiece materials include hardened steel, high-strength bronze, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel alloy, reinforced plastics, stainless steel, and general steel. The straight-cylindrical shank accommodates standard three-jaw drill chucks and collet-style tool holders. Series 860 designation identifies it within the PRECISION TWIST DRILL general-purpose extra-length product line. It meets ANSI standards and carries a general-purpose grade classification appropriate for production and maintenance drilling in shop or field environments.
Suitable for use in aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, titanium, synthetic materials, hardened steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy, malleable iron, high-strength bronze, magnesium alloy, reinforced plastics, and general steel. Straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 0.1563 inches fits standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting that shank size.
Install and remove this bit only while the drill press, lathe, or hand drill is fully de-energized and the spindle has come to a complete stop. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet before applying torque. When drilling deep holes, back the bit out periodically to clear chips and prevent heat buildup, particularly in stainless steel or nickel alloys. Consult applicable shop safety and machine-guarding standards before operation.
