The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000124 is an extra length high-speed steel drill bit designed for through-hole and deep-hole drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. The 5/16 inch diameter bit features a 118-degree standard point angle with web thinning for easier penetration and reduced thrust. At 8 inches overall length with a 6 inch spiral flute, it provides extended reach in confined or deep work. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 5/16 inch in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks. Cutting direction is right hand with a regular spiral and two flutes. This bit meets ANSI standards and is sold individually.
This bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in metalworking, HVAC fabrication, plumbing rough-in, and electrical trade work where deeper material penetration is required. Primary workpiece materials include aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic, and titanium. Secondary materials include stainless steel, hardened steel, malleable iron, nickel alloy, high-strength bronze, magnesium alloy, reinforced plastics, and steel. The extended flute-to-diameter ratio of 12xD makes it well suited for deep clearance holes in structural members, equipment housings, and sheet assemblies.
Compatible with standard 3/8 inch or larger keyed and keyless drill chucks. Designed for general-purpose drilling in aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, titanium, stainless steel, hardened steel, malleable iron, nickel alloy, reinforced plastics, and steel workpieces per Series 860 ANSI specifications.
Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed or keyless chuck is fully tightened. For deep-hole drilling, back the bit out periodically to clear chips and prevent flute packing. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling harder metals such as stainless or hardened steel to extend bit life. Operate at the correct surface footage for the workpiece material; consult published HSS speed-and-feed charts for the specific material being drilled.
