The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000102 is a reduced shank twist drill bit built for general-purpose metal drilling in professional trade and industrial applications. It features a 1-3/8 inch cutting diameter with a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to be chucked in standard drill presses and machines that cannot accept a full 1-3/8 inch shank. The drill point is ground to a 118-degree standard angle and the body is manufactured from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3-inch flute length, providing a maximum drilling depth of 3 inches. Licensed tradespeople and machine operators rely on this bit for production and maintenance drilling tasks.
This drill bit is suited for drilling ferrous metals as its primary workpiece material. It also performs on aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, and synthetic materials. The reduced shank design is a common solution when large-diameter drilling is required on equipment with a smaller chuck capacity, making it practical for HVAC equipment fabrication, plumbing rough-in metalwork, electrical panel knockouts, and general sheet metal or structural drilling. The right-hand spiral flute configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole operations.
Designed for use in drill presses, milling machines, and hand-held drilling equipment with a 3/4 inch or larger chuck capacity. Part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R58. Meets ANSI standards for reduced shank drill bits.
Installation of this bit should be performed by a qualified machinist, maintenance technician, or experienced tradesperson familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and confirm the bit is centered before operation. Always wear appropriate eye protection and ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped before drilling. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate or cutting speed for the material being drilled, and allow adequate chip clearance to prevent bit binding.
