The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000061 is a reduced shank twist drill bit designed for drilling through ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, titanium, and a range of other materials in general-purpose shop and field applications. The bit features a 1-1/4 inch cutting diameter with a reduced 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to seat in standard drill chucks that cannot accommodate the full cutting diameter. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it carries a 118-degree standard point angle suited for flat starts on most common workpiece materials. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3 inch flute length, supporting a maximum drilling depth of 3 inches.
This bit is intended for use in metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance trades where holes larger than a standard chuck capacity are required without switching to specialty tooling. The reduced shank design makes it compatible with 3/4 inch capacity drill chucks found on benchtop drill presses, magnetic drills, and heavy-duty hand drills. Primary workpiece material is ferrous metal. Secondary materials include aluminum, cermet, copper, magnesium, nickel, synthetic composites, and titanium. The Series R58 designation identifies it within Precision Twist Drill's general-purpose reduced shank product line.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with 3/4 inch capacity drill chucks on drill presses, magnetic drills, and heavy-duty portable drills. Suitable for ferrous metal, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, cermet, and synthetic workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by machinists, fabricators, or maintenance technicians using a drill press or hand drill equipped with a 3/4 inch or larger chuck. Secure the shank fully into the chuck and verify the bit runs true before engaging the workpiece. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup. Wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before beginning any drilling operation.
