The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000021 is a reduced shank drill bit designed for drilling through ferrous metals and a range of secondary materials including aluminum, copper, nickel, and titanium. The bit measures 0.625 inches in diameter with a 0.500-inch Weldon flat shank, allowing it to seat securely in compatible chucks without slipping under torque. The 118-degree standard point angle suits general-purpose applications across production and maintenance drilling. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3-inch spiral flute length, placing this in the standard jobber class for reach and chip evacuation. The bright, uncoated high speed steel construction is appropriate for moderate-speed drilling without coolant. Series R57.
This bit fits common drill press, mill, and hand-drill applications in industrial, mechanical, and maintenance environments. The reduced shank design allows a 5/8-inch cutting diameter to run in a 1/2-inch chuck, expanding the usable range of standard equipment without a chuck upgrade. Right-hand cut geometry is compatible with conventional rotating spindles. It is suited for ferrous metal fabrication, field maintenance, and general-purpose shop work where a Weldon shank is preferred for positive drive retention. No coolant system is required, making it practical for portable or bench-top setups.
Designed for use in 1/2-inch chucks on drill presses, milling machines, and hand drills. Suitable for drilling ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, synthetic materials, and titanium. Conforms to ANSI standards.
A licensed machinist or qualified maintenance technician should secure the Weldon shank fully into the chuck, engaging all three flats before operation. Confirm the chuck set screw or collet is tightened against the flats to prevent axial pullout. Verify spindle rotation is right-hand before engaging the workpiece. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and wear appropriate eye protection during all drilling operations.
