It features a 39/64-inch (0.6094 inch decimal) cutting diameter paired with a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical reduced shank, allowing it to run in standard 1/2-inch drill chucks even though the cutting diameter exceeds that size. The 118-degree standard point angle is the industry-standard geometry for most production and maintenance drilling applications. The bright, uncoated high-speed steel construction provides reliable performance across a broad range of workpiece materials without the need for specialized tooling setups.
This bit is suited for metalworking shops, maintenance and repair operations, and production environments where a versatile, general-purpose drill bit is needed. The Series R56 designation places it within a well-established line of jobber-style reduced shank bits. Typical applications include drilling through ferrous metal stock, aluminum plate, copper, magnesium, nickel alloys, synthetic materials, and titanium.
