The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999976 is a reduced shank twist drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making in metal fabrication, maintenance, and industrial applications. The bit measures 3/4 inch in diameter with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to seat in standard 1/2 inch chucks without requiring a larger chuck capacity. Constructed from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it carries a 118-degree standard point angle suited for right-hand cutting in a wide range of workpiece materials. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3-inch flute length, placing it in the Series R56 general-purpose drill family.
This bit is intended for use in drill presses, milling machines, and hand-held power drills equipped with a 1/2 inch chuck. It is well suited for ferrous metals including steel and iron, and is also rated for secondary materials such as aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, and synthetic materials. The reduced shank design makes it practical in shops that need to run larger diameter bits without upgrading to a larger-chuck spindle. Machinists, tool and die technicians, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics are the typical end users for this type of bit.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with 1/2 inch chucks on drill presses, hand-held power drills, and milling machine spindles. Rated for ferrous metal as the primary workpiece material, with secondary compatibility in aluminum, cermet, copper, magnesium, nickel, synthetic, and titanium materials. Conforms to ANSI standards.
Install in a 1/2 inch drill chuck and tighten securely with a chuck key before operation. Power down and de-energize the machine before inserting or removing the bit. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material where required, noting this bit is rated for dry cutting. Follow applicable shop safety codes and wear eye protection during all drilling operations.
