The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999824 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 36, equivalent to 0.1065 inches in decimal. Built from high speed steel with a cobalt oxide bronze finish, it features a 135-degree split point and a web-thinned, tapered web design that reduces thrust and improves centering on hard materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1065 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 2.5 inches. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix pattern clear chips efficiently during right-hand cutting operations. This bit meets NAS 907 specification and is suited for general-purpose drilling in demanding trade and production environments.
This drill bit is designed for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The cobalt content in the high speed steel base provides heat resistance that makes it appropriate for harder and more abrasive workpiece materials where standard HSS bits would dull quickly. The flute length of 0.8125 inches supports a maximum drilling depth of 0.8125 inches per pass. It fits standard drill chucks used by machinists, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians in both shop and field settings.
Listed under Series R88CO-R89CO. Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and compatible with general-purpose drilling applications across the workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S as defined by ISO material classification.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance mechanics, and trade professionals using standard drill presses, hand drills, or CNC drilling equipment. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before operation and confirm chuck key is removed prior to starting the machine. No coolant-through capability is present on this bit; use an appropriate cutting fluid applied externally when drilling stainless steel, titanium, or other heat-sensitive alloys. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed selection based on workpiece material and bit diameter.
