The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999797 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Sized to No. 22 wire gauge (0.1570 inches decimal), it features a 135-degree split-point tip with web thinning for fast engagement and reduced walking on hard surfaces. The bit is manufactured from high-speed steel with a cobalt oxide bronze finish that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding materials. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, machinists, and general trade professionals reach for this bit when drilling through ferrous and non-ferrous metals on the job.
This bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 1-1/16 inch flute length support moderate-depth holes in both bench-drill and hand-drill setups. It is appropriate for production drilling environments as well as field service work where a reliable, NAS 907-compliant bit is required. The right-hand spiral flute clears chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. Series R88CO-R89CO.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck sized to accept a 0.1570-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for use with benchtop drill presses, magnetic drills, and hand-held power drills in metalworking and trade service applications.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by qualified trade professionals familiar with machine tool safety practices. Secure the workpiece before drilling and confirm the chuck is fully tightened on the shank before operating. Always wear appropriate eye protection when drilling metals. Do not exceed the recommended speed and feed rates for the workpiece material to avoid bit damage or breakage.
