The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999734 is a taper length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle and a right-hand spiral flute configuration. The straight shank measures 0.1540 inches in diameter and fits standard drill chucks without adapters. With a flute length of 3 inches and an overall length of 5-3/8 inches, this bit provides extended reach beyond what a jobber-length bit delivers while maintaining rigidity. It falls under the R52 series and meets ANSI standards.
This bit suits applications in metalworking, fabrication, and light industrial environments where standard jobber-length bits lack the reach needed for deeper holes. The taper length design gives additional clearance in confined bores. Compatible material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, magnesium, malleable iron, nickel, stainless steel, and reinforced plastics. Machinists, toolmakers, pipefitters, and HVAC or plumbing fabricators working in metal shop or field settings will find this bit suited to everyday production drilling.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1540 inch straight shank. Suitable for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Secure the straight shank firmly in the drill chuck before operation and verify chuck jaws are fully tightened to prevent slippage. Power down the drill press or disconnect the tool before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling hardened steel or stainless steel to extend bit life, even though this bit does not have through-coolant capability. Wear appropriate eye protection and secure workpieces properly before drilling.
