The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999725 is a taper length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it measures 21/64 inch (0.3281 inches) in diameter and carries a standard 118-degree split-point angle. The overall length is 6.5 inches, with a flute length of 4.125 inches and a 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio that provides added reach over jobber-length bits. A tapered web configuration and web-thinned point reduce entry force and improve chip clearing on deeper cuts. This bit is suited for use in drill presses, hand drills, and CNC setups by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and general maintenance technicians.
The 5999725 is built to ANSI standards and fits standard straight-shank chucks. Its right-hand spiral flute geometry and web-thinned point make it effective in production and maintenance environments where drilling speed and hole quality matter. The taper length format gives it more reach than a standard jobber bit without sacrificing rigidity, making it a practical choice for structural steel, panel, and fabrication work where clearance or depth is a factor.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank drill chucks. Rated for drilling into alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
This bit is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals using drill presses, hand drills, or CNC equipment. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck and verify chuck key removal before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling hardened steel or stainless steel to extend tool life. Follow shop safety practices including eye protection and proper workpiece clamping at all times.
