The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999700 is a taper length drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 0.9375-inch (15/16 inch) diameter straight shank and a standard 118-degree split-point geometry. The right-hand spiral flute measures 6.125 inches in length, providing efficient chip evacuation during drilling operations. With a web-thinned, tapered web configuration, this bit reduces thrust requirements and improves entry on difficult materials. The overall length of 10.75 inches gives it reach suited to deeper-hole applications where a jobber-length bit falls short.
This taper length drill bit is rated for general-purpose use across a broad material set. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators will find it well-suited for drilling alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, magnesium, magnesium alloy, nickel, nickel alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastic materials. The extended flute length makes it a practical choice when standard jobber-length bits cannot reach required drilling depths in production or field machining scenarios.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and drill press setups accepting a 0.9375-inch straight shank. Suitable for use in manual drill presses, CNC drilling machines, and magnetic base drills configured for straight-shank tooling at this diameter.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating tool safety. Secure the straight shank fully in a properly rated chuck and verify runout before drilling. Power down and lock out all equipment before changing or inspecting tooling. Do not exceed the rated speed range for the material being drilled, and use appropriate cutting fluid where the workpiece material or drill depth requires it.
