The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999672 is a taper length high speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It measures 0.1250 inches (1/8 inch) in diameter with an overall length of 5.125 inches and a spiral flute length of 2.75 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation. The bright/uncoated finish is standard for HSS general-purpose tooling. Right-hand cut with a straight shank, this bit is suited for use in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC machines wherever a longer reach is needed beyond what a jobber-length bit provides.
This Series R51 taper length drill bit is intended for production and maintenance drilling in metal fabrication, mechanical contracting, and general trades. The extended flute length relative to diameter (6xD ratio) makes it well-suited for deeper holes where a standard jobber bit would fall short. Applicable materials include alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.1250 inch straight shank. Suitable for use in hand drills, drill presses, lathes, and CNC equipment across metal fabrication and maintenance applications.
Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck before drilling and verify runout before beginning a production run. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling ferrous metals to extend tool life, even though coolant-through is not supported on this bit. Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped to prevent walking, especially at initial point contact. Follow applicable shop safety standards for rotating tooling, including proper guarding and eye protection.
