The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999661 is a taper length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, it features a 1/32 inch (0.0313 inch) diameter, a 118-degree standard point angle, and a 2-inch overall length (OAL). The spiral flute geometry with a 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio promotes efficient chip evacuation. Web thinning reduces thrust at the cutting tip, improving penetration on harder substrates. This bit is suited for machinists, fabricators, and maintenance trades who need a reliable small-diameter drill in everyday production or repair work.
This bit is appropriate for use in both handheld and machine-mounted drilling applications. The straight shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. The right-hand spiral flute and standard point geometry make it a versatile choice across residential, commercial, and light industrial environments. It performs reliably in bench drill press and CNC drilling setups where consistent small-hole accuracy is required.
Compatible with alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel. Part of the Series R51 line. Conforms to ANSI standards.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard drill press, lathe, or CNC machine with an appropriate chuck sized for a 1/32 inch straight shank. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. At this diameter, use low feed pressure and appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous or hardened materials to prevent bit breakage. Always wear appropriate eye protection when operating drilling equipment.
