The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999660 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel and other metals. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on contact, allowing the bit to engage the workpiece without a center punch in most applications. An oxide and straw coating provides moderate lubricity and heat resistance. At 1.688 inches overall length with a 0.781-inch flute, this is a compact bit suited for close-quarters work. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks. It meets ANSI and DIN 338 dimensional standards, making it a reliable choice for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working in production or field environments.
This bit is sized at 1.60 mm (0.0630 inches) diameter and is classified as a heavy-duty, general-purpose drill. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and specialty alloys, consistent with the P, M, K, N, and S material codes per ISO classification. The 2ACO series targets applications requiring a compact jobber-length tool with a regular spiral flute and tapered web configuration. The web-thinned point reduces thrust requirements, which is useful when drilling harder steels or when working with lower-torque handheld equipment.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production-stock jobber drill for applications involving steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and specialty alloys, per ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S. Fits any standard drill chuck accepting a 1.60 mm straight shank.
Installation is performed by machinists, tool and die technicians, or maintenance mechanics using a standard drill press, CNC machining center, or handheld power drill with an appropriate chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before engaging the workpiece. Use cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend bit life and improve surface finish. Inspect the cutting edges before each use; cobalt bits can develop micro-chipping if subjected to interrupted cuts without proper feed and speed settings.
