The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999534 is a reduced shank twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, and a range of other workpiece materials. The bit measures 7/8 inch (0.8750 inch) in diameter with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to chuck into standard 1/2 inch drill chucks despite the larger cutting diameter. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3 inch flute length. The 118-degree standard point angle and regular spiral flutes suit everyday production and maintenance drilling tasks. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this Series R56 bit delivers dependable performance across a wide range of shop and field applications.
This bit is suited for drilling in ferrous metals as its primary workpiece material, and is also rated for use in aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, cermet, and synthetic materials. The reduced shank design allows larger-diameter drilling with a standard 1/2 inch chuck, making it practical for electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general maintenance trades who need to bore larger holes without a heavy-duty chuck setup. Right-hand cut with spiral flutes for efficient chip evacuation. No coolant is required under normal operating conditions.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with any 1/2 inch drill chuck. Rated for use in ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, cermet, and synthetic materials per Series R56 specifications.
Install the shank fully and securely into a 1/2 inch keyed or keyless chuck before drilling. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during cutting. Apply consistent feed pressure appropriate to the material being drilled — excessive force or speed can shorten tool life. Follow applicable workplace safety standards and wear appropriate eye protection when operating rotating cutting tools.
