The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999530 is a reduced shank twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and other materials. The bit measures 61/64 inches (0.9531 inches decimal) in diameter with a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank, making it compatible with standard 1/2-inch drill chucks. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3-inch flute length. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit handles ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, nickel, titanium, and synthetic materials. The 118-degree standard point angle is the conventional choice for general metal drilling applications. Right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute pattern. Installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and skilled tradespeople working in fabrication, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical rough-in.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The reduced shank design allows a larger-diameter bit to be used in a standard 1/2-inch chuck without requiring a larger drill or dedicated tooling. The Series R56 designation identifies this as part of PRECISION TWIST DRILL's standard reduced shank line. Typical applications include drilling oversized clearance holes, conduit knockout prep, pipe flange work, and structural steel fabrication where a full-shank bit of this diameter would require a larger chuck capacity.
Designed for use in standard 1/2-inch keyed or keyless drill chucks. Suitable for drilling ferrous metal, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, cermet, and synthetic workpiece materials in general-purpose applications.
This bit is installed in any 1/2-inch capacity drill press, handheld drill, or magnetic drill motor. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify the bit runs true before drilling. When drilling metals, use appropriate cutting fluid or cutting oil to extend bit life and improve hole quality. Always wear eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling.
