The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999450 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance metal drilling applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point and web-thinned, tapered web construction that reduces walking and cutting resistance at entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 7/64 inch (0.1094 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 1-13/16 inches and a flute length of 13/16 inches. The right-hand spiral flute design provides efficient chip evacuation during short-hole drilling operations. It meets ANSI and NAS 907 specifications and is rated heavy duty grade for demanding production environments.
This screw machine length bit is suited for drilling titanium and other hard materials in production machining, toolroom, and maintenance applications. The shorter-than-jobber flute-to-diameter ratio of 2.5xD provides added rigidity in screw machine and CNC lathe setups where stub-length tooling is required. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision fabricators working in aerospace, manufacturing, and industrial maintenance will find this bit appropriate for close-tolerance hole work in tough stock.
Designed as a screw machine length replacement or production drill bit for use in standard drill chucks, collets, and screw machine spindles accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch diameter range. Primary workpiece material rating is titanium, with applicability across other hard metals consistent with R40C series tooling.
This bit is installed by a machinist or toolroom professional into a compatible drill chuck or collet system. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth to prevent runout. Follow applicable ANSI safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed selection when drilling titanium or similarly hard workpiece materials.
