The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999415 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point and web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves centering accuracy at the start of the cut. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. With an overall length of 2.125 inches and a flute length of 1.0625 inches, this compact stub-length bit is engineered for rigidity and reduced deflection in tight workspaces. It conforms to ANSI and NAS 907 specifications and is rated for heavy-duty service.
This bit is rated for primary use on titanium and similarly hard or abrasive materials, making it appropriate for aerospace, mechanical, and precision fabrication work. The right-hand spiral flute with a 2.5xD flute-to-diameter ratio efficiently evacuates chips during drilling. It is suited for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools where a stub-length bit is called for. Machinists, pipefitters, and sheet metal workers commonly reach for screw machine length bits when clearance is limited or when additional rigidity over a jobber-length bit is required.
Designed as a screw machine length replacement or stock drill bit for use on titanium and other hard materials in applications requiring ANSI- and NAS 907-compliant tooling; compatible with any standard straight-shank drill chuck accepting a 0.1719-inch diameter bit.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with proper cutting speeds, feeds, and coolant practices for the workpiece material. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify runout before drilling into hard or abrasive stock. Do not exceed the recommended speed and feed for the material being drilled. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace if chipping or dulling is observed.
