The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999343 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a steam oxide coating, this bit handles steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a standard 118-degree point angle with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves centering. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1495 inches in diameter, matching the wire gauge size 25 drill diameter. Two spiral flutes in a regular spiral pattern clear chips efficiently during drilling. Overall length is 3 inches with a flute length of 1.875 inches.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in metal fabrication, mechanical contracting, and industrial service work. The R18A series designation places it within a proven jobber-length line built to ANSI standards and NAS 907 specification. With a 13xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 1.875 inches, it fits standard drill chucks used by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and general tradespeople. Right-hand cut geometry is compatible with conventional drill presses, hand drills, and CNC equipment. No coolant-through capability; suitable for use with external cutting fluid where required by the workpiece material.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard three-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.1495-inch straight-cylindrical shank, for use on drill presses, hand drills, and compatible CNC equipment.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck and verify zero runout before starting the cut. Apply appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to prevent work hardening and premature bit wear. Operate at a spindle speed appropriate for the workpiece material and drill diameter — higher speeds suit non-ferrous metals, lower speeds suit hardened steels. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use; a dull bit generates excess heat and reduces hole quality.
