The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999339 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 24, equivalent to 0.1520 inches in diameter. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a steam oxide coating, this bit is designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of metallic and hard materials. The 118-degree standard point angle and two-flute spiral configuration provide accurate entry and efficient chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. With an overall length of 3.125 inches and a flute length of 2 inches, it fits the jobber-length class used daily in machine shops, maintenance shops, and fabrication environments.
This drill bit is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It performs in both handheld drill and drill press setups. The R18A series designation and NAS 907 specification make it a recognized standard in production and maintenance drilling applications where consistent hole quality and dimensional accuracy are required. It is a solid choice for machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working with metal stock or structural components.
Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Designed for use in any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.1520-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the R10A, R15A, and R18A series.
Install and remove this bit with the drill unplugged or the machine powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck before operation to prevent slipping under load. Use cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to manage heat buildup, as this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace bits that show visible damage to maintain hole accuracy and operator safety.
