The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999258 is a jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge 86, with a decimal diameter of 0.0105 inches. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it is designed for general-purpose drilling applications in metalworking environments. The bit features a 118-degree standard point angle, a two-flute regular spiral configuration, and a web-thinned, tapered web for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust. At 0.75 inches overall length with a 0.0938-inch flute length, this is a small-diameter precision bit used by machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and collets. The 9xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports controlled chip removal in short-depth applications. Maximum drilling depth is 0.0938 inches (3/32 inch), making it appropriate for small pilot holes, instrument work, and precision through-hole drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collets accommodating a 0.0105 inch straight-cylindrical shank across bench drills, CNC drill presses, and hand-held drill motors used in machining and fabrication applications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tool and die technicians familiar with small-diameter tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a compatible chuck or collet before operation to prevent runout or bit breakage. Due to the very small diameter, use low feed pressure and appropriate spindle speeds per material type to avoid snapping the bit. Inspect the cutting edges before each use; high speed steel bits of this diameter are susceptible to breakage if bent or chipped.
