The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999143 is a jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge 62, with a decimal diameter of 0.0380 inches. It is manufactured from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and features a standard 118-degree split point with web thinning for improved centering and reduced thrust on entry. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.0380 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 1.5 inches. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix pattern provide chip clearance during through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. This bit is suited for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills where small-diameter precision holes are required.
The 5999143 is a general-purpose bit rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It fits production environments and maintenance repair operations where wire-gauge-size holes are drilled routinely. The right-hand cut and standard spiral geometry make it compatible with conventional drilling equipment without special toolholding requirements. It is sold individually but is available in minimum order quantities, making it practical for stocking in tool cribs or service vans where small-diameter bits are consumed frequently.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber-length drill bit conforming to ANSI standards; fits standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.0380-inch shank diameter. Series includes R10P, R15P, and R18P designations.
Installation and use of small-diameter drill bits should be performed by a machinist or qualified tradesperson familiar with spindle speed and feed rate selection for the workpiece material. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent bit deflection or breakage at this diameter. Disengage power and bring the spindle to a full stop before changing or inspecting the bit. Use of cutting fluid is recommended when drilling ferrous materials to extend tool life, even though this bit does not feature internal coolant delivery.
