The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999119 is a jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size Number 56 (0.0465 inches decimal, 3/64 inch fractional equivalent), manufactured from high speed steel with a steam oxide coating. The 118-degree standard point angle suits general-purpose drilling applications across a wide range of workpiece materials. At 1.75 inches overall length with a 0.75-inch spiral flute, this bit is sized for precision work in tight or shallow-clearance drilling setups. Right-hand cutting direction and a straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks. It is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, pipefitters, and general trade professionals.
This bit is designed for drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. It fits residential and commercial maintenance, light fabrication, and production drilling scenarios where a small-diameter, high speed steel jobber bit is required. The steam oxide finish provides mild lubricity and corrosion resistance during use. Series R18 construction follows ANSI specification standards. With a 16xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a tapered web configuration with web thinning, the bit reduces thrust requirements and improves chip evacuation in small-diameter drilling operations.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at 0.0465 inches diameter. Suitable for use in handheld drill drivers, drill presses, and milling machine spindles configured for small wire-gauge bits.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, or trade professionals using a drill press, milling machine, or handheld drill driver with an appropriate chuck capacity. Confirm the chuck jaws can close securely on a 0.0465-inch straight shank before use. Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent movement during drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling steel, stainless steel, or hard materials to extend bit life and maintain hole quality.
