The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999061 is a jobber length drill bit sized to wire gauge number 41, with a decimal diameter of 0.0960 inches. It is machined from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish and ground to a standard 118-degree split point with web thinning for easier entry. The two-flute, regular spiral design runs in a right-hand cutting direction and is built for general-purpose drilling in production and maintenance environments. At 2.375 inches overall length with a 1.375-inch flute, this bit fits standard drill chucks via its straight cylindrical shank. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and general trade mechanics reach for this size when drilling small pilot holes or clearance holes in tight access areas.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. It is a general-purpose tool appropriate for both light production runs and field service work. The 14xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance in most common drilling applications. This bit ships individually but requires a minimum order of 12 units, making it practical for shop stocking or tool crib replenishment.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement jobber drill bit for any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.0960-inch straight cylindrical shank, consistent with Series R10P, R15P, and R18P tooling from PRECISION TWIST DRILL.
Install this bit in a keyed or keyless drill chuck, tightening evenly to prevent runout. Always secure the workpiece before drilling and use appropriate cutting fluid when working with steel or stainless steel to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use; a dull bit increases thrust force and can cause workpiece damage or shank slippage. Follow applicable shop safety practices and applicable codes when drilling into pressurized or energized assemblies.
