The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999027 is a taper length drill bit machined from high speed steel (HSS) and designed for fast, accurate through-hole drilling in non-ferrous metals. The bit measures 23/64 inch (0.3594 inches) in diameter and features a 118-degree standard point angle with web thinning for reduced feed pressure at entry. The bright, uncoated finish is suited for applications where lubricity coatings are unnecessary or where regrinding frequency makes bare HSS the practical choice. At 6.75 inches overall length with a 4.25-inch spiral flute, this taper length format provides extra reach compared to a jobber-length bit without sacrificing rigidity.
This drill bit is rated for use in aluminum, aluminum alloy, copper, magnesium, and magnesium alloy. The right-hand spiral flute with fast spiral type promotes efficient chip evacuation in soft, gummy non-ferrous materials where chip packing is a common failure mode. The cylindrical shank (0.3594 inches) fits standard drill chucks and is compatible with both hand-held and machine setups including drill presses and CNC-style production fixtures. It meets ANSI standards for general-purpose drilling, making it a straightforward stock replacement for shops and field technicians running R51FS-series tooling.
Designed as a direct replacement for Series R51FS taper length drill bits in 23/64 inch diameter. Rated material applications include aluminum, aluminum alloy, copper, magnesium, and magnesium alloy per manufacturer specification.
Install and operate this bit in accordance with applicable machine tool safety practices and shop procedures. Power down and de-energize the drilling equipment completely before changing bits or adjusting chuck tension. Use appropriate workholding to secure the workpiece and prevent rotation during drilling. Inspect the cutting edges and web condition before each use; a web-thinned point that chips or deforms should be reground or replaced before continuing service.
