The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999001 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized at No. 29 wire gauge (0.1360 inches decimal), manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish. It features a 118-degree standard point angle and a two-flute spiral configuration with a regular spiral type and web-thinned, tapered web construction for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust during entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1360 inches in diameter, matching the drill diameter for direct chuck mounting. Overall length is 2.875 inches, with a flute length of 1.75 inches and a maximum drilling depth of 1.75 inches. This bit is designed for general-purpose drilling applications and is compliant with ANSI standards. Sold individually.
The 5999001 is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. It is appropriate for use in machine shop environments, fabrication, maintenance and repair, and light production drilling. The 13xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports moderate-depth holes without peck drilling in most general-purpose setups. This bit fits standard drill chucks and is compatible with both handheld and bench-mounted drilling equipment commonly used by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and maintenance technicians.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard three-jaw drill chucks accepting straight-cylindrical shanks at 0.1360 inches diameter, for use in handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling operations across metalworking applications.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, or other trade professionals using standard drill equipment. Ensure the chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is securely clamped or fixtured before beginning any drilling operation. Apply cutting fluid or appropriate coolant when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to extend tool life and manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point shows damage.
