The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998875 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of materials including titanium. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves penetration. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. At 0.111 inches in diameter with an overall length of 1-7/8 inches and a flute length of 7/8 inch, it is sized for close-tolerance work in tight or shallow-clearance applications. Licensed tradespeople and machinists rely on this Series R41 bit for production and maintenance drilling tasks.
Screw machine length drill bits are shorter than jobber-length bits, making them well suited for drill press work, CNC operations, turret lathes, and screw machine setups where rigidity and reduced deflection are priorities. The 2.5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in short-hole drilling scenarios. This bit is appropriate for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial trade applications where a compact, stiff drill is needed in metal, plastic, or composite workpieces.
Designed as a general-purpose screw machine length drill bit rated for use in titanium and other workpiece materials as listed under Series R41; suitable for use in any standard drill chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.111-inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists, maintenance technicians, or licensed tradespeople familiar with rotating tool safety. Secure the workpiece and confirm the chuck is fully tightened before operation. Do not exceed the recommended speed range for the workpiece material and bit diameter. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if damage is observed.
