The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998607 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point and web-thinned, tapered web construction for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. At 0.081 inches in diameter and 1.75 inches overall length, this compact stub-length bit is well suited to close-quarter drilling where a jobber-length bit would be impractical. Licensed machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics are the primary installers.
This drill bit is rated for use on titanium as its primary workpiece material, making it appropriate for aerospace, mechanical, and industrial maintenance work where hard-to-machine materials are encountered. The R41C series follows ANSI and NAS 907 specifications, confirming dimensional and performance compliance for critical applications. The regular spiral flute with a 2.5xD flute-to-diameter ratio promotes efficient chip evacuation at the short flute length of 0.75 inches. Coolant-through capability is not included in this design.
Designed as a screw machine length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and machine spindles accepting a straight-cylindrical shank, rated for titanium and comparable hard workpiece materials per the R41C series specification.
This bit is intended for use by machinists, maintenance mechanics, and trade professionals operating drill presses, CNC machines, or hand drills with compatible chuck sizes. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, and replace the bit rather than regrinding if the split point geometry is compromised. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied when drilling titanium or other hard alloys.
