The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998577 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding shop and production environments. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and allows drilling to start without a center punch. The shortened screw machine length body provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it well suited for drill press work, CNC setups, and production drilling where clearance is limited. The right-hand spiral flute with web thinning aids chip evacuation and reduces thrust in harder materials. Overall length is 1-13/16 inches with a 13/16-inch flute length.
This drill bit is rated for use in titanium and other hard-to-machine materials where a heavy-duty, high-performance cutting tool is required. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks without slipping under load. Its screw machine length geometry makes it a common choice for production drilling, turret lathes, screw machines, and tight-clearance drill press fixtures in both shop and manufacturing settings. Sold individually; minimum order quantity is 12 units per order. This bit conforms to ANSI and NAS 907 specifications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production-grade option for standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting wire gauge size 38 (0.1015 inch diameter) bits in screw machine length configurations.
Installation of this bit is performed by machinists, tool and die technicians, or maintenance mechanics using a standard keyed or keyless drill chuck. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and locked out before changing bits. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck to the full depth of the chuck jaws to prevent runout. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and applicable ANSI machining standards when selecting feeds and speeds for the workpiece material.
